1. Sharing data with another user? Select Multi-User Workgroup.
If more than one user needs access to the same transactions or profiles, opt for Multi-User Workgroup.
The Multi-User Workgroup back-end is SQL Express (included) and can be located on the same or a different computer.
2. Accessing by Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or Citrix? Select Multi-User Workgroup.
The Multi-User Workgroup front-end enables multi-user access and security access control based on Windows Login ID or password challenge screen. Individual user preferences such as reporting are saved ('sticky').
Note: If there is only one user remoting into a computer, a single-user desktop license will be sufficient as no additional features/settings are needed (RDP/Citrix would not need to be turned on).
3. Do you have multiple users but do not need to share data? Select single-user desktop licenses
For example, if a company has a checking and payroll bank account and they also have two users (one in accounts payable and one in payroll) - they can use (two) desktop licenses as they do not need to share their data. Please note that in this example the company would need two desktop licenses, one for each user.
Tip: If you have multiple users, it is less expensive to add a workstation/user to your license, rather than obtain multiple full licenses.
Notes:
QuickBooks Pro, Premier, Enterprise - Using a multi-user version of QuickBooks edition of Pro, Premier or Enterprise does not require you to license a multi-user Workgroup platform of ACH Universal.
If there is only one primary user of ACH Universal, a single-user desktop license is fine, regardless as to the number of QuickBooks users.
Of course, if you need to share the data in ACH Universal between users, license multi-user Workgroup
